Haas is seeking a new driver for the 2025 Formula 1 season after Nico Hulkenberg accepted a move to join the Stake F1 squad in 2025 ahead of its transition to Audi.
Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu admitted that promoting Oliver Bearman to a full-time drive in 2025 could be an “easy decision”. The American Formula 1 team is in search of a new driver due to Nico Hulkenberg signing with Stake F1 as they transition to Audi next year. Bearman is considered the favorite to replace Hulkenberg and will participate in at least six FP1 sessions with Haas this year, starting at Imola. His impressive outings with Haas in previous FP1 sessions have boosted his prospects for a full-time drive next year. Komatsu stated that it would be an easy decision to field Bearman in 2025 if he continues to perform strongly during his FP1 outings. Despite the possibility of Bearman joining the team next year, Haas will maintain a consistent approach in managing his practice outings to maximize their objectives for each race weekend. Komatsu emphasized the importance of Bearman understanding and contributing to the team’s goals, not just showcasing his speed.
